Soooo I was moving my shit (sites) to some better servers, and getting rid of the old servers. The move started on Friday, meaning anything done after that wouldn't be moved. On Monday the move was finished, so I'm like ok time to do some work. I spent most of the day making some sites, which I didn't back up 90% of. Then today I realized I had put all of Monday's work on an old server, which I no longer have access to.

Bookchan is giving out the Spyware Protect 2009 malware (just from visiting it, not from downloading anything). I am sadened.

Some stuff happened. I moved to Phoenix for a few months. Then I moved back near Chicago to be with someone. Pizza Cats were not in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom but it is still pretty fun. Pokemon Platinum just came out. My sites are down, fuck, gotta put em back up.

These High Fructose Corn Syrup commercials piss me off.


If I had not seen one of these commercials actually on tv, I would not believe they are real. I don't watch tv, but I happened to be over someone's house when one of these came on. I was like, "Wow. What the fuck. Seriously? SERIOUSLY? They are letting the hfcs companies air these?!"

Just because many people don't know what HFCS is and why it is bad, does not change the fact that IT IS EXTREMELY BAD FOR YOU AND YOU SHOULD NOT BE INGESTING ANYWHERE NEAR THE AMOUNT THAT MOST PEOPLE INGEST.

So here is some information, so that you can be prepared when someone tries to give you hfcs.

What is HFCS?


"High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is produced by processing corn starch to yield glucose, and then processing the glucose to produce a high percentage of fructose. It all sounds rather simple--white cornstarch is turned into crystal clear syrup. However, the process is actually very complicated. Three different enzymes are needed to break down cornstarch, which is composed of chains of glucose molecules of almost infinite length, into the simple sugars glucose and fructose.


First, cornstarch is treated with alpha-amylase to produce shorter chains of sugars called polysaccharides. Alpha-amylase is industrially produced by a bacterium, usually Bacillus sp. It is purified and then shipped to HFCS manufacturers.


Next, an enzyme called glucoamylase breaks the sugar chains down even further to yield the simple sugar glucose. Unlike alpha-amylase, glucoamylase is produced by Aspergillus, a fungus, in a fermentation vat where one would likely see little balls of Aspergillus floating on the top.


The third enzyme, glucose-isomerase, is very expensive. It converts glucose to a mixture of about 42 percent fructose and 50-52 percent glucose with some other sugars mixed in. While alpha-amylase and glucoamylase are added directly to the slurry, pricey glucose-isomerase is packed into columns and the sugar mixture is then passed over it. Inexpensive alpha-amylase and glucoamylase are used only once, glucose-isomerase is reused until it loses most of its activity.


There are two more steps involved. First is a liquid chromatography step that takes the mixture to 90 percent fructose. Finally, this is back-blended with the original mixture to yield a final concentration of about 55 percent fructose--what the industry calls high fructose corn syrup."


tldr; HFCS starts out from natural things, but undergoes an intense chemical process which would never happen in nature.




Why is it bad?



When HFCS is ingested, it travels straight to the liver which turns the sugary liquid into fat, and unlike other carbohydrates HFCS does not cause the pancreas to produce insulin; which acts as a hunger quenching signal to the brain. So we get stuck in a vicious cycle, eating food that gets immediately stored as fat and never feeling full.


So basicly it turns right into fat AND makes you want to eat more.


"Scientists found that the rats given fructose had more undesirable cross-linking changes in the collagen of their skin than in the other groups. These changes are also thought to be markers for aging. The scientists say that it is the fructose molecule in the sucrose, not the glucose, that plays the larger part."



"When sugar is given to rats in high amounts, the rats develop multiple health problems, especially when the rats were deficient in certain nutrients, such as copper. The researchers wanted to know whether it was the fructose or the glucose moiety that was causing the problems. So they repeated their studies with two groups of rats, one given high amounts of glucose and one given high amounts of fructose. The glucose group was unaffected but the fructose group had disastrous results. The male rats did not reach adulthood. They had anemia, high cholesterol and heart hypertrophy--that means that their hearts enlarged until they exploded. They also had delayed testicular development. Dr. Field explains that fructose in combination with copper deficiency in the growing animal interferes with collagen production. (Copper deficiency, by the way, is widespread in America.) In a nutshell, the little bodies of the rats just fell apart."

"Some recent studies have reported that "Rats normally live for a good two years," explains Meira Fields, Ph.D., research chemist at the USDA in Beltsville, Maryland. "But the rats in my study fed a high-fructose, low copper diets are dying after 5 weeks." One of the few human studies of low-copper, high-fructose diets was abruptly stopped when 4 of the 24 subjects developed heart-related abnormalities, according to Fields. High fructose diets have also been implicated in the development of adult-onset diabetes. Fructose, especially when combined with other sugars, reduces stores of chromium, a mineral essential for maintaining balanced insulin levels, according to Richard Anderson, Ph.D., lead scientist at the Human Nutrition Research Center in Beltsville, Maryland."


"A diet high in fat and in high fructose corn syrup may cause severe liver problems in people with a sedentary lifestyle, according to a study conducted by researchers from Saint Louis University and presented this year at the Digestive Diseases Week meeting in Washington, D.C.
"We wanted to mirror the kind of diet many Americans subsist on, so the high fat content is about the same you'd find in a typical McDonald's meal, and the high fructose corn syrup translates to about eight cans of soda a day in a human diet, which is not far off with what some people consume," said Brent Tetri, M.D., an associate professor of internal medicine at Saint Louis University Liver Center.


To the researchers' shock, it took only four weeks for the first signs of serious health problems to emerge.
"We had a feeling we'd see evidence of fatty liver disease by the end of the study," Tetri said. "But we were surprised to find how severe the damage was and how quickly it occurred. It took only four weeks for liver enzymes to increase and for glucose intolerance -- the beginning of Type 2 diabetes -- to begin.""


tldr; HFCS is a major contributing factor to diabetes, severe liver damage, and obesity (which causes all kinds of health problems). It kills rats., and not in a sudden painless way, but in a drawn out, excruciating way. Human studies had to be quickly ended because it very quickly began doing major health damage to them.

Justin had been planing on getting a cat... Well yesterday I found an abandoned dog and as I do when I find abandoned pets, I took it to the humane society. While we were there Justin saw a cat and was all "zomg want" so we applied to adopt it and were approved yay! So we get it Friday.







Btw everybody, if you're ever planing to get a pet, keep in mind the humane society has many animals who need loving homes!!!! Or if you have a pet you can't keep anymore, please take it to the humane society instead of just leaving it somewhere -.- They won't put it to sleep, and they'll find it a good home.

Just something I thought of last night, as I dreamed of the Pizza Cats as I often do.

Acen was fun. I had a major panic attack or something friday, but other than that. I could actually drink this year since I stayed instead of being the designated make-sure-people-get-off-at-the-right-trainstop-er yay!! My phone's camera is so crappy that it isn't even worth taking pics, but I figgured that may be my only chance ever to get a pic with HALCALI so I did. Even though they had just turned some other girl who asked for a pic down saying they had to go, I asked anyway and Yukari was like "ok!" *pose* "hai, cheesu!" IT WAS AWESOME

Anyway... Got GTA4 for 360 today... and DISC READ ERROR. Apparently this is a common problem. Clearing my harddrive cache doesn't do shit. I can't take the harddrive off because I don't have any memory cards (why the hell would I). I finaly got it to work by putting the 360 vertical... which is a huge pain in the ass because I have nowhere to sit it that way! My tv is on a computer desk, the 360 sits where the keyboard goes, so sitting it vertical obviously blocks the tv. So I have to kind of have the corner of the tv blocked to play gta4, siiiigh.
